Dr. Sung-Yoon Lee, of Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, spoke about the "Five Myths about North Korea"; and Dr Terry Park, visiting professor at Wellesley College, rounded out the program with a talk that explored the ways in which the Korean War continues to shape popular anxieties of the US national security state and the militarized men trusted to uphold its tenuous borders.
As part of the "Giving Back" initiative initiated at last year's meeting, there were two organizations recognized for their excellent work in the social services sector in the Boston area. Each organization was given a donation of $1,000 to help further their activities. The organizations selected were the National Association of Korean American Inter-Cultural Family Mission and the Korean American Senior Citizen Association.
Following the talks there were wonderful performances by Ms. Jung-hee Oh on the gayaguem and by Ms. Jay 'O'Lee of salpuri folk dance to round out the afternoon.
