The Museum Project - Reflections on the Arrival of Peace Corps
Background
The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History (대한민국역사박물관) in Seoul established a collection of objects and publications related to the Peace Corps experience in Korea. The museum held an exhibit from September 12 - November 20, 2016 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps coming to Korea.
The Peace Corps Korea collection includes histories of Peace Corps volunteers in Korea, photographs, and objects - accompanied by personal stories from daily life and work as a volunteer. In May of 2015, more than 35 boxes (over 330 pounds) of artifacts were shipped to the museum.This was in addition to dozens of items already donated during the 2012 and 2013 Revisits.
The museum is located in Gwanghwamun with three floors of exhibits telling Korea's story from the opening of the Hermit Kingdom in the late 19th century to Gangnam Style in the 21st.
